2012 marks the 13th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos, the music festival and camping extravaganza. The festival takes place August 8-12 in Cave-in-Rock, Ill., an aptly named town that has hosted the Gathering for many years. Tickets for the event went on sale this week despite no acts beyond Insane Clown Posse being officially announced.
The festivities are held on private land, which means no police presence and an anything goes attitude. ICP-sponsored documentary
A Family Underground portrayed the festival as a bawdy carnival of brawls, partial nudity, and clown-faced ninjas in black clothes.
This year's Gathering is expected to attract over 20,000 attendees, who are all willing to fork over the $175 entrance fee to camp out with other Insane Clown Posse fans. If the expected 20,000 attendees show up, that's $3.5 million gross before factoring in parking and camping passes. If you're game, the 2012 Big Balla Campsite costs $400. Juggalo Gathering LLC is also making sure that even skint Juggalos can pay for their tickets in four easy payments via the site's own payment plan (coming soon).
