Being ready and able to work is one of the key requirements for receiving unemployment benefits. Obviously, someone serving time behind bars is not eligible.

But you'd be surprised how many people get away with it.

A convicted killer recently collected $30,000 in unemployment checks while awaiting trial in a Los Angeles County jail.

His friends and family, who helped him file the claims and cash the checks, were arrested in March.
