Before there was Zynga there was Nexon, an online gaming company founded in 1994 by Kim, then just 26. Many of Nexon's games (like Zynga's) are free but charge for virtual goods. Kim, who is director of Nexon's holding company, also beat Zynga to the public market, raising $1.2 billion in a December IPO, a day before its U.S. rival.
