One of the hottest cold-weather destinations is only a quick two-and-a-half hour flight from the nation's capital. Upscale restaurants and chic hotels on the beach -- many of which have top-rated spas and fitness centers -- may be just what you need to get 2012 started on the right foot.

The average round-trip airfare from Washington, D.C. to South Florida between January and March is $233, down from $328 over Christmas, according to Travelocity.
