Before the Volkswagen Beetle there was the suspiciously similar Czechoslovakian Tatra, which entered production in the mid-1930s. After Germany occupied Czechoslovakia, the car became a favorite of Nazi officers.
It's powered by an air-cooled V8 engine mounted in the rear of the car. WIth its aerodynamic design and 100 mph top speed it became famous for its high-speed cruising capability. The Tatra is credited with influencing the design of the Volkswagen Beetle. RM Auctions estimates this one will sell for $180,000 to $200,000.
