  • Job cuts: 6,500+

RadioShack's collapse hit its employees hard.

The electronics retailer employed 21,000 workers across 4,000 stores when it filed for bankruptcy in February. But it's not clearly exactly how many jobs were lost because RadioShack teamed up with Sprint to operate about 1,750 stores together.

However, RadioShack's bankruptcy filing indicated the company had eliminated 6,500 jobs as its business crumbled.

Some companies such as Halliburton disclosed workforce reductions in multiple announcements. Target (TGT) was excluded because its job cuts took place mostly in Canada as a result of store closures there.
