The Department of Labor has been cracking down on wage violations in Tennessee hotels. In 2011, violations were found at 34 hotel franchises in the state, including Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, Comfort Suites and Motel 6.
Those violations included failure to pay overtime, and paying below the minimum wage. Some housekeepers, for example, were paid by the room, which resulted in them earning below the minimum wage per hour.
