It means you have nice things but you might not be living extravagantly. Most middle class [people] probably have some debt, but can live comfortably and not worry excessively about money. A handful of my friends are middle class. Other friends are living paycheck-to-paycheck. They may actually be middle class but don't feel it. They are conscious of how much they make and spend, but their nest egg isn't growing.
