These six couples share what it's like to raise money through crowdfunding web sites for adoptions and fertility treatments.
Brian and Ashlee Gibson, of Mesa, Ariz., were set up by friends and immediately clicked. After marrying about a year later, the couple was eager to start a family.
Four years later, they have already spent around $4,000 on doctor visits and fertility medications, but have yet to become parents.
Already blogging about her battles with infertility, Ashlee said it has been less intimidating sharing their situation on the crowdfunding campaign they set up to help them afford the intrauterine insemination (or IUI) treatments that doctors recommended as a next step.
"My husband and I always joke: 'Did you think it would take so many people to make a baby?,'" she said.
