For the past several years, Brenda Della Casa has split her tax refund between "work and play."
Last year, she put half of her refund into savings and put the other half towards a trip to Australia.
This year, she'll split her refund between her credit card debt and a 10-day trip to Spain.
"No one wants to pay off everything when you get a bundle of money," she said. "You don't just want to pay off a credit card and walk away. You want to do something for yourself."
