Not ready to cut the cord? Then you can expect to pay even more for your cable or satellite TV service this year.
Major cable providers like Time Warner Cable (TWC), Comcast (CCV), AT&T (T) U-Verse and DirecTV (DTV) have all announced price hikes for 2015, unless you still qualify for a promotional offer. (The timing of Comcast's hikes vary by region.)
Time Warner customers, for example, will pay additional monthly fees of a few dollars a month, while DirecTV customers who subscribe to the company's top "premier" package will pay $7 more each month.
The cable and satellite TV providers say television networks are partly to blame. "Every year, the owners of the television channels you watch demand higher prices," DirecTV said in a letter to customers.
Meanwhile, Time Warner Cable said that broadcast and sports programming costs were the biggest drivers of its higher prices, noting that fees paid to local channels have increased by 60% in the past two years.
