The same family has owned the B Bar B Ranch in southern Oregon for 40 years. During that time, they have run the property as a high quality grass and hay ranch, but they have also built a comfortable home that embraces its beautiful surroundings.
The 3,900-square-foot house has a big stone fireplace and a wraparound deck that commands views of the nearby Williamson River, the Winema National Forest and several buttes that emerge out of the surrounding valley floor.
Although Oregon is often associated with green forests, rich agricultural valleys and misty rains, this property lies east of the Cascades where it is dryer and browner. There's just enough rainfall here -- more than 20 inches annually -- to keep the land green most of the year and produce good pasturage for cattle.
Much of the territory near the ranch is public land. And just 30 miles away is Crater Lake National Park.
