Fast-growing Dallas is now the ninth biggest city in the country. So many tech companies have opened facilities here, including Texas Instruments, AT&T and several startups, that the city is now being referred to as the "Silicon Prairie."

Penske compiled the list by tallying the number of consumer truck rental reservations for one-way moves that were made online and through its call centers last year.
