The Cornerstone Mansion has been run as a B&B lately but it's being marketed for sale as a single-family home. That could be a very large family, since the home has nearly 7,000 square feet of floor space.
This Gothic Revival was built in 1894 for the Offut family, whose patriarch was a leading attorney in town. It's had only four owners in its history, according to Clare Marsh, the listing agent.
Original elements include an inlaid tile floor and oversized doors at the entrance, tiger-striped oak wood, an original foyer chandelier and leaded-glass windows at the main staircase landing. The library woodwork is of Cuban mahogany and the dining room is black walnut. A broad staircase winds up to the nine bedrooms on the second and third floors. One of the bedrooms features a Royal Doulton tile fireplace.
Marsh said the roof was replaced recently, a $300,000 job. That's 40% of the asking price of $750,000.
