Compare Winter Springs to Top 10 Best Places
While much of Florida has been battered by the economic downturn and declining property values, this town 15 miles north of Orlando is one of the luckier ones. It hasnít cut most town services and hasnít raised property taxes. Tech is big in the area: major employers include Siemens, Lockheed Martin, and the University of Central Florida. Winter Springs doesnít have a very cohesive community yet, but the city is trying to fix that with a town center combining apartments with offices, restaurants, and a park. A typical four-bedroom home here cost about $200,000 in mid-2011. --A.W.Subscribe to Money Magazine
