In the heart of West St. Louis County, Ballwin is a half-hour from five major universities and colleges. Most residents commute to St. Louis, about 15 miles away. Ballwin is served by two school districts, Parkway and Rockwood, both of which are rated among the best in Missouri. Aside from the occasional opportunity theft of a purse or iPad left in an unlocked car, the town has very low crime rates. Ballwin’s Vlasis Park provides lots of recreation for families, with two baseball diamonds, four tennis courts, two ponds, pavilions, sand volleyball courts, a walking path, and a playground. --D.B.
