NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The hit NBC reality show, "The Apprentice," may be headed to Broadway.

The Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday that Mark Burnett and Donald Trump, executive producers of the NBC show, are developing "The Apprentice: The Musical."

The industry trade magazine said Burnett is currently writing the book for the musical, with several songs already written.

"It's a love story," Burnett said of the project at a Friday meeting, according to the paper, to promote his upcoming NBC reality series "The Contender."

"It's very inspirational," he added.
