NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A burger developed by the winning team in the season premiere of the Donald Trump reality show "The Apprentice" went on sale Friday at Burger King restaurants nationwide.
The "Net Worth" team of "street smart" contestants won the meaty challenge against the "Magna" team of college-educated opponents with their " Western Angus Steak Burger" -- a burger loaded with three onion rings, cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, lettuce and tomatoes, according to a Burger King spokeswoman.
The first task of the season-three face off between Net Worth and Magna required them to name, build, market and sell a new menu item at Burger King restaurants.
However, the Trump trainees didn't know that the No. 2 hamburger chain would begin serving the winning burger the next day, the company said.
"We couldn't wait even a day to take this burger from the boardroom to the lunchroom," Russ Klein, chief marketing officer for Burger King Corp., said in a press release.
About 7,800 Burger King restaurants nationwide received a shipment of ingredients, instructions and "Apprentice"-themed promotional materials on Friday morning, the fast food chain said. The high-speed turnaround was a first for both "The Apprentice" and Burger King.
The Western Angus Steak Burger will be available through Feb. 4.
