NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - People filing for initial jobless claims fell last week, the government said Thursday, marking the second straight decline.

The Labor Department reported that 330,000 people filed for unemployment benefits in the week ended April 9, down from a revised 340,000 the previous week and matching the consensus forecast of economists surveyed by Briefing.com.

A Labor Department analyst said there were no special factors behind the drop.

The four-week moving average for jobless claims rose for the sixth consecutive week to 338,000, but up by only 250 from a week earlier.

Continued claims, the number of people who remained on the benefit rolls, fell 22,000 to 2.66 million in the week ended April 2, the latest week for which data are available.
