NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Tyco International has employed Sotheby's to auction off some of Dennis Kozlowski's pricey antiques in its French & Continental Furniture sale Thursday, but the items may fetch far below what the former CEO originally paid, according to the New York Post.

Included in Sotheby's furniture auction will be a few select items that decorated Kozlowski's infamous Fifth Avenue apartment in New York, the paper said.

According to the Post, Kozlowski purchased over $1 million worth of antiques at Helen Fioratti's New York City gallery L'Antiquaire & the Connoisseur. But Sotheby's experts appraised the items at far below what Kozlowski paid.

A pair of late 18th century Italian armchairs were bought by Kozlowski for $72,000, according to the paper. Sotheby's listed the chairs with an estimate of $5,000 to $7,000.

An 18th Century Italian Pietra Dura marble table top was bought for $92,000, according to the paper. Sotheby's listed the table top with an estimate of $6,000 to $8,000.

Fioratti could not be reached for comment, but an employee at her gallery suggested that the price discrepancies could be due to changes in "market value," according to the paper.

Kozlowski and Mark Swartz, the company's former finance chief, are currently standing trial for the second time in New York State Supreme Court on charges of grand larceny and securities fraud, among others, in connection with massive compensation packages they received from Tyco.

Kozlowski's lawyer had previously contended that the pieces were intended as investments that would appreciate in value over time and actually improve Tyco's finances, according to the paper.
