Xybernaut may face more resignations
Report: Wearable computer maker faces an exodus as investigations into business practices continue.
May 31, 2005: 9:32 AM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Three members of Xybernaut Corp.'s board have offered to resign as directors, according to the Washington Post Tuesday.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the paper said, the maker of wearable computers said it accepted the resignations of Martin Eric Weisberg and James J. Ralabate. Edwin Vogt, senior vice president of research and development, offered to resign from the board but has not yet tendered his resignation, the paper reported.

The company, which makes computers that can be clipped to a belt, faces investigations into its business practices by the SEC and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, the paper said.

Weisberg and Ralabate had business interests with the company in addition to their duties as board members, according to the newspaper report, which cited company filings.

Weisberg declined comment to the paper. Ralabate could not be reached for comment, the paper said.

Xybernaut's stock was delisted by the Nasdaq Stock Market after the company, which has never posted a profit, warned of a "severe liquidity crisis and possible insolvency," the paper said.
