NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Samsung Electronics Co. announced a partnership with XM Satellite Radio Tuesday and will offer the satellite radio service on a new MP3 player expected to be available by this December, according to a statement from the company.

The MP3 player, where users can download, store and play digital music, utilizes flash memory technology.

The players, available with different memory sizes, will come with XM's (Research) home accessory kit, which will allow users to receive XM's 150 channels of music, talk, sports and entertainment in the home.

The players will also allow users to record XM broadcasts and identify songs heard on XM broadcasts for purchase through a digital downloading service.

The cost of the player has yet to be finalized. The basic model of a similar player without satellite radio, but with the ability to play video files, costs $199, according to a Samsung spokesman.

A basic subscription to XM costs $12.95 a month, not including receivers, which range from $50 to $329.
