Jobless claims fall
Number comes in below estimates, but still trends high following hurricanes.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The number of people filing for unemployment benefits fell last week, according to a government report Thursday, coming in slightly below estimates.

The Labor Department reported 355,000 initial claims for the week ending Oct. 15, down from a revised 390,000 the week prior. Economists had said 365,000 people would file for unemployment, according to Briefing.com.  Top of page
