NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - About 6 million children's metal necklaces and zipper pulls are being recalled for safety reasons, the government said Wednesday.

Stravina Operating Co. of Chatsworth, Calif., is recalling the products, which pose a serious risk of lead poisoning to young children, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

Lead is toxic if ingested by children and can also result in health problems.

No injuries have been reported in relation to the metal necklaces and zipper pulls, the statement said.

The necklaces being recalled are silver-colored and have individual names painted in various colors. The nameplate on the necklace hangs from a 16-inch black cord, according to the CPSC.

The packages have UPC Code 0-35203-00039-7 and are marked "Personalized Necklace" and "Stravina."

The zipper pulls involved in the recall also are silver-colored with individual names that come in various colors. The zipper pull hangs from a silver-colored metal clip designed to attach to a backpack, a keyring, as well as zippers on clothing.

The zipper pull's packages are marked with UPC Code 0-35203-00038-0 and have "Personalized Zipper Pull," "Great for Backpacks and Keyrings too" and "Stravina" is written on them.

The CPSC said the recalled metal necklaces and zipper pulls were sold at discount, toy, party, grocery and drug stores from March 2002 through September 2005 for between $2 and $4. The jewelry was manufactured in China.

Consumers should take the recalled products away from children immediately and can contact Stravina for a free replacement product at 1-800-964-0029 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.

Consumers can also visit the firm's Web site at www.stravina.com for more information.
