Betsy Markey
4th District of Colorado

Markey, a former congressional aide and tech entrepreneur, piled up an impressive 12-point margin against Republican Marilyn Musgrave in 2008 to become the first Democrat to capture the seat since 1973. But she voted for the final version of health care reform (after opposing the first House bill), so national Republicans are out for blood. The district is split between conservative, rural populations and liberal entrepreneurs and academics. Markey faces Cory Gardner, a well-funded Republican leader in the state House.
