The Jefferson
The Jefferson
Washington, D.C.

Reopened: August 2009

Rates: From $375; $660 for suites

A multimillion-dollar renovation has updated this 1920s era hotel -- D.C.'s only member of the Relais & Chateaux collection -- with modern luxury features from Bose iPod docking stations to flat-screen TVs in the bathrooms. Expense-account-conscious travelers will appreciate free local and long-distance calls and free Internet access throughout, while power players will like the scene in the hotel's restaurant, complete with a vaulted ceiling and 360-degree mural depicting the grounds of Monticello.
