Painter Alex Cordero puts a layer of finish on a bar being built in Kokomo's downtown.
Set to be called Cook McDoogal's, the bar is being constructed from antique wood and glass salvaged from other buildings in town. The space used to house a Chinese restaurant.
"We're basically taking advantage of all the funding the city is putting into downtown," said owner Blake Kinder.
Kinder said he got a $5,000 marketing grant from the country, a $15,000 low-interest loan from the city and a dirt-cheap liquor license to help start the business.
