Investments: In Texas, the energy industry is king, and the state's teachers aren't about to miss out. Under the leadership of Britt Harris, the former CEO of the mega hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, TRS last year established a 3% allocation to energy and natural resources, and is likely to boost it to 5% in the near future.
TRS is making direct investments in oil, gas, water, agriculture, timber, and mining as part of its energy strategy, and so far, it has about $2.2 billion already invested.
