The cost to raise a child continues to climb and wages aren't keeping up. Here's how five families save, plan and get creative to make it work.
Kathy and Noah Zucker have found creative ways to keep their three children entertained.
Instead of shelling out thousands of dollars on pricey family vacations, the Zuckers find affordable activities in and around the New York City area, where they live.
The family's $189 annual Wildlife Conservation Society membership, for instance, gives them unlimited trips to the Bronx and Central Park zoos and the New York Aquarium.
The Zuckers also pool their resources with other families to help minimize the cost of such activities as swimming and music lessons.
"You can spend a fortune on urban family living," she said. "Super Soccer Stars, camp, it all adds up."
