Jones Soda was offering the Thanksgiving "limited edition" set for $16 each, complete with utensils. |
After an overwhelming response to its turkey and gravy-flavored soda during last year's holiday season, Jones Soda Co. said it has added four new flavors to its Thanksgiving holiday pack. Besides the turkey and gravy flavor, the "limited edition" pack will also include flavors like green bean casserole, mashed potatos, fruitcake and cranberry.
The Seattle-based beverage company said it would even include free utensils when you purchase the holiday pack for $15.95 each.
But before logging on to Jones Soda's website, the company said all of its 15,000 five-packs of the 12-ounce bottles sold out within an hour after being offered on its Web store on Thursday.
The company said it has no plans to sell more on its online store, but consumers may still have a chance to purchase these flavored sodas at selected Target Corp. (Research) stores, and at other retail shops, for the same price.
And beginning on Monday, Target will also offer to sell the holiday pack on its website.
Jones Soda said $50,000 of its total proceeds will be donated to children's charity Toys for Tots.
To some, these flavored-sodas may not sound appetizing. But to those Atkins and South Beach dieters, the company said it may be your best bet to taste the holiday tradition without upsetting your body-conscious diets.
"We realized consumers are concerned about the 2,000 calories that each full holiday meal contains. That's why we made our sodas zero calories and zero carbs," Peter Van Stolk, president and CEO of Jones Soda, said in a statement.
Last year, Jones Soda's tan-colored turkey and gravy-flavored soda sold out in three hours after being offered on Jones Soda's website, and some bottles were fetching upwards of nearly $100 on eBay (Research), according to Reuters.
