The two wealthy investors did not make an offer for the publisher of the Wall Street Journal but wanted to explore potential arrangements, the newspaper said. Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. (Charts, Fortune 500) has made a $5 billion takeover for Dow Jones (Charts) but has met resistance from the Bancroft family, which owns a controlling stake of the company, over editorial independence. |
