Coffeemakers sold at Walgreen recalledAtico International recalls 392,000 Signature Gourmet and Kitchen Gourmet units sold exclusively at the drugstore, cites risk of fire.NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Atico International has recalled about 392,000 coffeemakers sold exclusively at Walgreen because they pose a fire hazard. Signature Gourmet and Kitchen Gourmet coffeemakers can ignite due to an electrical failure and may cause a fire, Atico said Wednesday. The manufacturer said it has received 14 reports of electrical failure and six reports in which the coffeemaker ignited. So far, no injuries have been reported. The recalled coffeemakers, which are sold only at Walgreen (up $0.11 to $44.64, Charts, Fortune 500), have date codes from May 2003 through July 2006, with the model number XQ-673B and item number W14A4984 on the bottom of the unit. The company said consumers should stop using the recalled coffeemakers immediately and contact Atico at (877) 546-4835 or visit the company's Web site at www.aticousa.com for instructions on returning the product for a full refund. |
