Brown will succeed Ed Zander, who will step down from the post on Jan 1. Zander will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors until May 2008. Brown joined Motorola (Charts, Fortune 500) in 2003 and led the $3.9 billion acquisition of Symbol Technologies, the cell phone maker's second largest transaction in the company's history. Prior to joining Motorola, Brown served as chairman and CEO of the network management software company Micromuse Inc. He also previously held positions at AT&T (Charts), Ameritech Custom Business Services and Ameritech New Media Inc. |
