The Vue Green Line uses the same "mild hybrid" system used in the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, but the system has a much bigger impact in the Vue. Fuel economy is improved by 6 mpg compared to the non-hybrid version. The front-wheel-drive Vue Green Line's overall fuel economy matches that of the all-wheel-drive version of the Ford Escape Hybrid, which uses a full-hybrid system.
The Vue also gets better safety ratings than the Ford Escape. The Escape didn't score as well as the Vue in front impact tests by NHTSA or the Insurance Institute. Also, the Vue comes standard with electronic stability control which won't be available on the Escape until next year.
