John Demsey, MAC AIDS Fund
Makeup giant MAC produces advertisements for only one of its many products: its Viva Glam lipstick. But the company, a division of $6.5 billion Estée Lauder, never sees a dime from Viva sales. Instead, revenue from the $14-a-tube line goes directly to the MAC AIDS Fund. Since the fund's inception in 1994, $100 million has been raised, making it the largest corporate HIV/AIDS donor outside the pharma biz. Demsey, who runs the cosmetic company, also chairs the fund, and spends much of his time working to ensure that the money reaches everyone from afflicted children in the U.S. to sex workers in India.
