EVP and CEO of Alternative Energy
BP
Country: Britain BP
2007 rank: 16
After Cox was passed over for the top job at BP, her year only got worse. Her new boss publicly said the company's shares had received little lift from its investments in renewable energy. Then it was rumored that BP would spin off the division she heads, BP Alternative Energy. The spin-off didn't take place, but now Cox, 49, will have to work hard to make sure BP remains committed to resources "Beyond Petroleum."
