Life has been not easy for Cheung, 51, since nonprofit groups cited one of her factories for unsafe working conditions, poor welfare, and violation of labor laws--accusations Cheung has denied. Cheung's business is turning scrap paper into gold: Her company recycles paper from the U.S. and elsewhere into corrugated cardboard boxes. In fiscal 2007 the company's revenue reached $1.4 billion, and net profit rose 46%.
