"The best snow trek in town begins at night near the ski shop at Solitude Mountain Resort (801-534-1400). There I strap on my snowshoes or skis (I prefer the latter - it's better gliding that way). Within moments I'm swishing through the snow, laughing with my wife and friends, and enjoying the crisp air (more than 8,000 feet above sea level). When the moon is full, the light shines through the trees and bounces off the snow - it's incredible. Some hikes lead to a view; this path, marked with signs and gas lanterns along the way, takes you to the Yurt (801-536-5709), a restaurant housed in a Mongolian-style tent, which serves up an exquisite five-course meal."
