Where to stay
Shellmont Inn, a lovingly restored 1891-era mansion on Piedmont Avenue, is just a few blocks away from the High Museum of Art and the Fox Theatre. Since purchasing the historic inn more than 20 years ago, owners Ed and Debbie McCord have furnished the veranda with plenty of rocking chairs and their five Victorian-style guest rooms with antique beds, chests and period wall treatments. Stained-glass windows grace the lobby and reading room, and there's a fishpond by the backyard garden.
