I spend quite a bit of time flying to Miami for my company, Vatic Outsourcing, a telecommunications consulting agency. But the seaside cocktail I enjoy most is mixed right here in Atlanta: It's called the South Beach martini, and no one makes it better than the bar at Einstein's, a popular Midtown meeting spot, which, incidentally, was renovated a few years back to resemble a modern ski lodge, complete with exposed wood, leather ottomans, and gas fireplace.
I know. It doesn't make all that much sense. But the South Beach is a favorite among the locals, even though it's not on the menu. And made by the bartenders here, it tastes deceptively innocuous but packs a big punch. Part vanilla vodka, coconut rum, Sprite, sweet & sour, and pineapple juice, it's like an upscale pina colada. After a long week, nothing beats kicking back, ordering up a couple of rounds with a friend or colleague, and easing into the weekend. -Shawn Purcell
