Heather Beyer, with her son Ty, says higher gas prices have taken a toll on her family's budget.
Like most of the middle class families we know, we have two vehicles. One is a newer, nice car, and the other is an old reliable '83 truck. Because of his hour-long drive to work, my husband has to leave me and our two boys with the truck.
Even with him taking the newer car, which gets better mileage, it costs us $30 a week to fill up at the current cost of gas.
We live paycheck to paycheck. Between the rent, the bills and gas every week, the leftover from our paycheck goes to groceries to feed our family of four.
We're already at the point that we don't go on vacations. And we're lucky enough to make just too much to receive any help, while we make too little to afford all the rising costs.
