Pessimistic about prospects

Still very slow in North Carolina ... I haven't received any callbacks in a month. As of today, it has been 862 days on the search. I have opened my search for starting my career in nonprofit development up to six states from Pennsylvania to Georgia and have included D.C. I have viewed about 6,000 advertised spots and applied to 50. I am hoping to hear back from the Smithsonian in D.C. about an opportunity to work with them. There are a few other leads that I am following up on this month.
I have started volunteering with the director of development at the local Red Cross. This fall, I will start volunteering with Street Soccer 945 -- it's part of the larger Street Soccer USA and the Homeless World Cup. This is all while working 40 hours a week at a call center and continuing to search for a nonprofit development position.
