Hopeful about hiring

My background is primarily educational. I spent several years doing Masters- and Doctoral-level work in Psychology. I was concerned that when I moved to New York City, it would be very hard for me to find work. But, I have had several successful interviews with large organizations.
I'm currently a sales associate at the Gap in the men's department. It's actually my first retail job. What I "really" do is administrative assisting and research assisting for universities. So, I'm still currently looking for work in that area, and I've also been applying to the same positions at local hospitals. The Gap is only part-time work, anyhow.
I feel that with time and some more patience and persistence, I'll be able to get back on track and find work in academia again. I feel hopeful that things are picking up.
