'My job is who I am'

I was a freelance public relations specialist until I landed a job in a corporation which lasted for nearly a year and a half. My job was eliminated due to the economy. I've since relocated from California to Arizona and I'm looking for anything. My stuff is in storage and I'm living with my sister and her husband.
I did a job search via Internet for a marketing or public relations job and I've been sending out my résumé but I really haven't gotten anything. I'm feeling a little depressed. I'm the kind of person where my job is who I am. I'm still looking in California and Arizona but I'm single and my children are grown so I'm willing to relocate anywhere.
I'm also looking at building up networking groups, meeting people, letting them know what I do. I've already kind of used up my savings. At this point I'm looking at building up my freelance business rather than going back to the corporate world. In the corporate world there's no security. If I do get another job at a corporation I think I'm going to be a little more savvy.
