Then and now: 'The worst slum in America'
Charlotte Street in New York City's South Bronx was once world famous for its blight. Now it's a slice of suburbia in the inner city - complete with Bimmers and boats.
In 1975, when this photo was taken, Charlotte Street was a wasteland of abandoned buildings, derelict and dangerous. Urban entropy had reduced most of them to their lowest common denominators: broken brick, crushed mortar and shattered glass.
