Sleep cool
German hotelier Heike Thelen opened Boquitas Pintadas in 2000 to combat what she saw as a dearth of cool "art hotels" in the city. The hotel and each of its five rooms are named after books by Argentine writer Manuel Puig, best known to American readers for his 1976 novel Kiss of the Spider Woman. Thelen, who mounts regular arts exhibits, brings in local artists to redesign the rooms every two months. The hotel has attracted art world stars like fashion designer Stephen Sprouse and nude group photographer Spencer Tunick.
