An authentic taste of India
Indian-born Belliappa Páttada, 30, ditched an engineering career in the U.S. to open an authentic Indian restaurant in Buenos Aires, which has few such restaurants (the Indian embassy lists only eight in all of Argentina). After meeting Shahrukh Merchant, 38, a fellow Indian engineer who founded the Tango Society of Boston when he lived in the U.S., the pair opened Tandoor. An elegant eatery with handmade silk wall hangings from India ("No brass goddesses," says Merchant), Tandoor features a menu of lesser-known regional specialties like Ku Ku Pak, a Bombay curry dish of chicken, coconut milk and cilantro.
