Terrafugia's Transition

Of the half-dozen flying car designs currently in development around the country, the Transition, made by Terrafugia, is the best bet for hitting the market first.

In March, the roadable aircraft completed its first manned flight at the Plattsburgh International Airport in upstate New York, then followed up with more than 20 additional test flights over the summer.

After tweaking the vehicle's design, Terrafugia plans to go through FAA certification testing in early 2011, then ship its first few cars later that year.
