Forty-seven-year industry veteran Bob Lutz, who retired as Chrysler vice-chairman in 1989 and then retired again in 2009 as vice chairman of GM, retired for a third time in 2010. This time, the father of the V-10 Dodge Viper was wearing laurels as champion of the partly electric Chevrolet Volt. Lutz's departure means journalists will now be attributing fewer spicy blind quotes to "highly-placed industry sources" and will find fewer uses for the honorific "former Marine jet fighter pilot."
