Six top-performing gold funds
What's been hotter than gold during the last five years? Some gold funds, believe it or not. Here are the top funds of the past five years.
5-year avg total return: 29.15%
Expense ratio: 1.43%
Asset size: $1.8 billion
It's no surprise that gold mutual funds have been on a tear recently. But not all funds are created equal. Some funds, such as Van Eck's International Investors Gold fund (INIVX), far outshine even gold's lustrous 23.7% annualized rise over the past five years.
Its 29% annualized five-year returns, including reinvested dividends, make it the top-performing gold fund since 2005. Longtime manager Joe Foster, a geologist by training, has his biggest bets in miners Kinross Gold, Agnico-Eagle Mines, and Goldcorp.
